The Securities Commission Malaysia–AlBaraka Forum Strategic Dialogue was convened on 14 September 2026 at The Inner Temple in London, bringing together policymakers, development experts, and sustainability practitioners under the theme, “Aligning Ethical Investment for Climate Adaptation and Transition.”
The dialogue opened with remarks by Dato’ Mohammad Faiz Azmi, Executive Chairman of Securities Commission Malaysia, who highlighted the need to mobilise private capital and blended finance to address the climate adaptation funding gap, followed by a keynote address from Mr. Shockat Adam, Member of Parliament for Leicester South.
Building on the opening perspectives, the dialogue continued with the panel session, “Unlocking Financing Pools for Climate Adaptation and Transition.” Moderated by Dr. Syed Hussain Quadri, Director of Partnerships, Global Advocacy & Resource Mobilization at the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), the session featured Mr. Sacha Sadan, Director of ESG at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA); H.E. Prof. Mahmoud Mohieldin, UN Special Envoy on Financing Sustainable Development; and Mr. Faraz Khan, Co-founder & Partner at Sustainadility UK.
In his closing remarks, H.E. Yousef Hassan Khalawi, Secretary General of AlBaraka Forum for Islamic Economy, called for a broader understanding of the Islamic economy—one rooted not simply in financial products, but in responsibility, purpose, innovation, and Ihsan.
His excellency emphasized that the Islamic economy’s greatest potential lies in developing solutions to human challenges, redefining how we understand value and profit, and placing positive impact at the heart of economic activity.
The dialogue marked a first step toward deeper collaboration between the two institutions.
